Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

1. If a person is selected at random, what is the probability that the person is a female or favors the issue?

The probability that a person chosen is female is = Total female in the sample/ Total people in the sample

This is equal to (103+68+7)/ (72+103+81+68+5+7) =178/336 =0.53

The probability that the person chosen favors the issue = (72+103)/336 =0.52

Note that the probability of A or B = p (A or B) = p(A) + p(B).

Thus the P (is a female or favor the issue) = 0.53+.52 = 1.05

2. If a person is selected at random, what is the probability the person is a male or is against the issue?

P (Male) = (72+81+5)/336 =0.47

P (Is Against the issue) = (81+68)/336 =149/336 = 0.44

Thus P (Male or against the issue) =0.47+0.44 = 0.91
