Introduction
Online schools refer to virtual learning institution that students take courses without a
physical classroom. Online schooling refers to when an individual takes courses online instead of
going to a physical class (Team, 2019). Online learning or schooling is done anywhere in the
world as long has a learner has an internet connection. In most cases, it is also known as distance
learning. On the same note, traditional learning methods refer to face-to-face learning process or
interaction that happen in a physical classroom. It is also known as a teacher centered-learning
where a teacher is the source of information in a classroom and implements the course in the
whole learning interaction (Wei, Patel, & Young, 2014). Both online schools/learning and
traditional learning methods have similarities and differences. The main aim of this paper is to
compare and contrast these two learning methods.
Comparison between online schooling and traditional ways of schooling
A considerable amount of work is required in both learning modes. Whether one studies
online or in the physical class, one has to put a lot of energy, focus, resources and time to
perform well. There is no shortcut in either of the schooling systems. In both environments,
learners have to manage their time wisely.
Secondly, accreditation is required. Traditional schools and online schools must be
verified and certified by the federal government education agency in charge of education. Both
tutors, that is, online and conventional school tutors must be qualified and approved by the
education agency before they begin to teach. Tutor verification for both schools ensures the
quality of the curriculum delivered and subject expertise of tutors.
