During a baseball game, a batter hits a high pop-up. If the ball remains in the air for 5.1 s, how high does it rise? The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s 2 . Answer in units of m.

Since the time required to go up and come downnis the same.

So the time to ccome down will be: .= 5.1/ 2 =2.55 sec

Now welhen the ball reaches the top position it stops there and its velocity becomes 0m/s


So , now applying the kinematifs eqn.

S = u*t + 0.5 * a *t^2

Here u = 0m/s

T= 2.55 sec

And a = g= 9.8m/s^2


So S = 31.86 m
