A car enters the freeway with a speed of 7.1 m/s and accelerates uniformly for 3.3 km in 4.3 min. How fast is the car moving after this time? Answer in units of m/s.

S = ut +(1/2)at^2

where s= displacement(3.3 km =3300 m),v= final velocity , u = initial velocity  ,  a = acceleration,t = time( 4.3 m = 258 s)

3300 = 7.1*258 + (1/2)a*(258)^2

3300 = 1831.8 + 33282 a

 33282 a =1468.2

     a = 1468.2 / 33282

  a = 0.0441 m / s^2


now apply the fromula ,

v = u + at

v = 7.1 + 0.0441 * 258

v = 7.1+ 11.381

v = 18.48 m /s


ANSWER

final velocity = 18.48 m/s
