After reviewing the United States Pharmacopeia website, I have discovered that the
USP creates physical and written standards for products such as medicine, dietary
supplements, food ingredients and other forms of an element. Manufacturers use the
standards set by the USP and regulatory bodies to guarantee the quality, strength,
consistency, appropriate identity and purity of the products produced or that they produce
(US Pharmacopeia, 2019). The standards set by the USP also crucial to consumers and the
producers in many ways. To producers, the standards set by the USP create the basic building
blocks to the development of their products and for the establishment of universal product
development protocols which can be understood universally. The standards set by the USP
benefit the consumers by ensuring that products manufactured by different companies are
safer, higher quality, safer and are easier to use. Therefore, USP helps many people in the
United States and beyond.
The dietary supplement I checked at Walmart had a USP variation. The presence of
the variation in the effect how in buy nutritional supplements in that I will always look for the
