Hello! In the book In Cold Blood, during the trial scene, why were men served on the jury? Why not women during that time period?

1. The crime was so horrible that it was thought to be too delicate and shocking for a woman to bear, so they were not asked

2. Although some women were asked, they refused to serve on  the trial for reasons given in answer 1.
