1. Describe the foundation of Deming’s “14 Points.” Use at least two unique references.

Deming’s is regarded as the father of total control because of his contribution
towards total quality management. He played a key role in the establishment of Japanese
companies which produced quality products. A company should not only be worried
about the problems of today but also focus on the future problems. By addressing the
future challenges a business would develop quality products that would enable it to win
more customers. Decisions in a company must be based on research and targeting
customer satisfaction as the key goal.
People must strive to perform better in their line of duty in order to provide goods
and services that meets customer needs. Under no circumstance should repeated mistakes
be accepted in any organization because they cost the company time and money through
the loss of loyal customers. Supervisors should ensure people deliver quality work that
can help the organization to attain competitive advantage. Supervisors should ensure that
quality is not assessed on the final products but rather on the process of production. This
would eliminate time and resources wastage. Producers should also strive to identify
single source suppliers because of the long term prosperity of the organization. Suppliers
are always innovative and can create a new market leading to a long term relationship
with the producer.
