Introduction
The essay is about the history of the juvenile justice system, its development and how it
has helped the juniors when they have made a mistake and must be punished. On the ancient times
before the event of the juvenile court, the youth were placed with other criminals despite their age
and their crimes; this was not the right thing. Juvenile justice is phenomena that have helped a lot
and need to be in making the youths to be involved in fewer crimes knowing that there is a board
that will have them punished.
Historical Development of The Juvenile System
In the 19th century, the youth committed a lot of crimes due to the growing and they went
to court and judgment was given to them. They were put in the same cell with the older people,
and it was depressing for them since the older people had a lot of experience in life than them. The
New York house of refuge was developed in 1825 by Thomas Eddy and John Griscom (Krohn
&Lane, 2015). It then grew into a more prominent organization that became the juvenile justice
system that aided the fairness of ruling to the youth. Other branches were opened in different places
