Having personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threat (SWOT) analysis is
important for career development and growth. While many organizations focus on the SWOT
analysis of the company, there is the need to develop a personal SWOT analysis among the
employees (McAdams & Sobeck, 2015). A personal SWOT analysis does not only target people
in employment, but even students are also encouraged to conduct a personal SWOT analysis for
their career growth. This is because many people have failed to perform in different tasks and
jobs because they are not able to understand their qualities.
It is good to note that a personal SWOT analysis gives one an opportunity for skill
development. Individuals are able to work on their weaknesses and utilize their strength towards
career advancement (Cherif, 2014). For instance, a real estate business is a competitive business
that requires a proper individual’s SWOT analysis in order to succeed. This is because there are

have been able to gain access to different markets that fit my customer demographics. This
strength puts me ahead of other young people who are starting their career in real estate.

Comprehensive and solid understanding of the real estate principles.
After having undergone the required academic prequalification for one to be a licensed

real estate agent, I have gained an in-depth understanding of the principles of real estate ranging
from taxation to the laws of contract. Many people in the real estate have transited into real estate
after being in other businesses such as construction management, hence they lack an
understanding of some of the principles of real estate that are taught in a real estate class.
Working with real estate brokers has also provided me with an opportunity to gain hands-on
experience in the real estate business and understanding different elements of business such as
client management.
iii.

Connection with a network of real estate Firms.
The real estate business is a business whose success is highly determined by an

individual’s connection with brokers in the real estate business (Musil, 2006). I have worked
under different brokers who have mentored me in this business and this provides me with a
major st...
