Organized crime and terrorism
Organized crime is a group of people that continuously do illegal activities with the sole
aim of generating profits for themselves. These groups can be local, national or international.
Activities that can be classified as organized crime include credit card fraud, kidnapping,
pornography, racketeering, fraud related to insurance, etc (Sciandra, 2016).
Terrorism is the premeditated use of threats or violence by a group of individuals in
pursuit of aims that are politically, religiously or ideologically instigated. It can be committed by
groups within a nation or by clandestine agents. Activities that can be classified as terrorism
include the taking of hostages from a certain country to compel the country’s government to for
example release prisoners allied to the terrorists.
The major difference between terrorism and organized crime is the motivation behind or
