countries that had many colonies overseas was regarded to be very superior.there was also the expansion of the Christendom through crusades.the most known explorers were the likes of Vasco da Gama and prince henry the navigator.during that time people still practiced slave trade.the slaves were used to work in the plantations and to carry out other hard labour.there was also the need to create a market for the goods and commodities that they produced back at home.other lands especially Africa highly attracted the European nations due to the availability of high-value raw materials for the industries in Europe.
these are some of the major things that made european countries look for colonies.they scrumbbled for them and lateer signed trities and decided to partition them.
