Question description

Chapter 10 through the end of the novel

This portfolio writing assignment is intended to help you gather your ideas and prepare you for the readings ahead. Use the assignment to collect your ideas and contrast them with the ideas you find in the pages of the books you read. Submit the assignment at the end of the Speedback Lessons in one final portfolio.

Choose one of the following writing prompts for this lesson’s submission:

  1. How is a science fiction movie different from a science fiction novel? Choose any sci-fi movie you’ve seen and any sci-fi novel you’ve read and compare the two. Which did you like better? Why? How are they similar? How are they different?
  2. What role would you play in a science fiction novel? What characteristics do you have that would be important to the story? For example, would you be hopeful? Pessimistic? Trusting of technology? Untrusting? Would you be the scientist? The hero? Be imaginative and specific!
