Lecturer,
The writing process mainly relies on the pre-writing stage and brainstorming is one of
the core phases that determine the outcome. At this stage, I set a time limit in which I explore
on all the angles that my writing can take. If possible, I like to involve another person to help
me come up with the broadest range of ideas that can pop up in the set time. Importantly, I
don’t judge or disregard any idea whether it sounds vague or ambiguous.
Most people think that the most crucial part of writing is the writing itself, but they
fail to understand that revision is equally essential for a great piece of work. First, when
doing my revision, I look to make sure that I have organized my work in the best possible
way. This includes ensuring that the arguments are brought out in a logical way that will
make the reader get the flow of the piece as he or she goes through the paragraphs. Also, I
use revision as a tool to enable me to scrap out any clutter and unclear ideas or words.
Finally, this stage helps me punctuate the writing.
In the course of revision, the writer comes across numerous situations that have to be
acted upon to make the final work a masterpiece. For this case, I had to add some details to
give the full picture of the story. Also, I had to rephrase some of the words to pass the
message effectively. Finally, I had to remove some sentences that did not add any value to the
piece.
The editing phase is crucial because it involves making the necessary adjustments that
will make the output better. For my case, my editing process includes, going through the
written piece, fixing the arising issues like grammar and punctuation, removing redundancies
and ensuring that the information provided is factual and rechecking the sources. After this, I
re-read again to make sure I haven’t left anything unattended then format the article ready to
publish.

In this paper, I have done some editing before coming up with the final draft. First, I
have improved the grammar and ensured that every sentence is well punctuated and logical.
These edits are essential because a failure to factor them, the paper will discourage the reader
from going through the intended message.
This process has taught me that every stage is critical and should be taken seriously.
For instance, I have learned that rephrasing and changing the words used can have a
significant impact on how the message will be relayed and received. So, this means it is
critical to revise every bit of any piece to get excellent results.
Yours Sincerely,

Rhetorical Analysis of a TED Talk Essay
This talk is based on Marvel's America Chavez, superhero story written by Gabby
Rivera. Rivera is from Puerto Rico and lived in the Bronx with her family for most of her
years. Here, she gets to see how her family and friends have to be tough to survive. Contrary,
this was not her; she was soft and could not go alone all along. She needed people to help her
journey her life. This is the core pillar of America Chavez, the willingness to be soft and
embrace help from others.
This piece serves as an advocate for people with color to embrace the fact that they
don’t have to do it alone and being soft is not a sign of weakness. Instead, this attribute can
be the source of humongous power to thrive in all situations. It is crucial for individuals to
stay true to themselves and avoid the influence of others who strive to change them without
understanding their position. The speaker addresses individuals from the marginalized groups
who feel that they have to go hard to achieve and in the process lose their human touch. Also,
this talk can benefit anyone who has been discouraged from being soft and normal because it
might portray him or her as a weakling. This is evident through Gabby Rivera who narrates
her experiences and how her ‘softness’ has propelled her to places she did not even dare
dream about.
The speaker in this piece raises an issue that is common in the non-native Americans
who have to shelve their emotional and soft personalities to survive in their hoods. This is an
opinion that is evident in these groups and individuals have lived with it to the extent it is part
of their norms.
Gabby had a successful talk in which she was able to introduce, address her issue and
pass the information intended. For instance, she was able to appeal the ethos by giving
examples of her experiences while growing and that provides the talk with the much-needed

credibility. Moreover, Rivera uses her character to show how she felt lonely with no one to
understand her, and this evokes emotion in the audience. Finally, this talk brings out the
importance of embrace all aspects of personality because that is what makes us human.
Gabby uses narration as the primary rhetorical mode in her talk by the telling of her
story and how it led her to do what she did with America. Also, the speaker uses description
to enhance her talk in that she creates a picture in the mind of the audience through the use of
her words. In addition to this, Rivera utilizes analogy by likening her family to superheroes in
the way they told their stories at the dinner table. Again, the speaker employs hyperbole to
show how fine superheroes seemed to her...
