The paper aims at providing a review on how cost and benefit analysis can help in
determining the need for reverse logistics in businesses. In order to have a better understanding
of the topic of discussion, the paper gives a brief description of reverse logistics. The brief

involved in such a process. In the bid to understand reverse logistics, a detailed background
information is provided in the paper outlining the origin of reverse logistics. Also, the paper
discusses a number of principles that revolve around cost and benefit analysis including the
principle of using a common unit of measurement for uniformity purposes. A literature review
about the topic is also addressed in the paper. The literature review provides various reasons why
cost and benefit analysis is crucial in determining the need for reverse logistics. According to
scholars, one of the reasons of using cost and benefit analysis in determining the need for reverse
logistics is its effectiveness. Cost and benefit analysis is effective since it employs a common
unit of measurement hence minimal discrepancies in the results. The paper also outlines the
