Planning and Topic
Directions: Develop an educational series proposal for your community using one of the
following four topics:
1. Bioterrorism/Disaster
2. Environmental Issues
3. Primary Prevention/Health Promotion
4. Secondary Prevention/Screenings for a Vulnerable Population

Estimated Time Teaching Will Last:

Location of Teaching:

30-35 minutes
Supplies, Material, Equipment Needed:

Estimated Cost:

Light snack, pamphlets, brochures,
projector, white board, marker pens,

Community and Target Aggregate:
Primary caregivers of infants between the ages of 3 months and 12 months

Topic: Negative impacts of passive smoking to children

important in creating awareness about such effects on these vulnerable group of persons. The
topic also builds on the general idea of health promotion of infants. Furthermore, infants have
rights albeit they cannot defend themselves. The topic can therefore be seen as an effort to
advocate for the rights of infants to clean and unpolluted air.

Epidemiological Rationale for Topic (Statistics Related to Topic): According to Center for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), passive smoking has adverse effects on the health of
victims. Yet, when the victims are infants whose physiological processes are still I the early
development stages, these effects become even more worrying. CDC explains that passive smoke
is made up of the burning parts of cigarettes and the exhaled smoke from smokers. This smoke
contains at least seven thous...

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
