Statement of the problem
Internet has become the most of sort of information, which has made the world to behave
like a global market. In other words, social network sites have transformed world into a global
village where billions of people communicate with each other regardless geographical gap
between them. Since the advent of social network in the 1990s, it is assumed in some quarters
that the behavior of the teenager is facing a lot neglect and challenges. However, social network
sites are growing steadily at stunning rate across the globe. For instance, New York Times of
July 2010 indicates that Facebook users have dramatically increased from 200 million users to
nearly 500 million users in a period of less than two years (Cecere, Jean, Le Guel & Manant,
2018). Available evidence illustrate that most internet users probably visit these social network
sites on a daily basis or at least every other day, and youths lead the pack, according to (Kircher,
2019). Social network sites may be defined as web-based services, which allow people to create
public or semi-public profiles, and articulate a list of other users with whom they share
connections (Kircher, 2019). Social network sites can also allow individuals to view and
transverse list of their connection and those made by their peers within these systems. Some
examples of social networking sites include WhatsApp messenger, Facebook messenger, Yahoo
Messenger, Twitter, Google Messenger, Skype, and Google Messenger.
The production and distribution of equally classy cellular phones and evolution of
Internet technology have actually advances online interaction, as people no longer need to visit a
cybercafé in order to have online interactions (Farrukh, Sadwick &Villasenor, October 2014).
Besides, the attentions of people have shifted from visible friends to invisible friends as they are
making friends heavily with strangers who are all over world. Therefore, this phenomenon has
worried many parents who are cautious on what their kids do social network sites. There are also
numerous benefits and challenges, which are associated with social network sites. Thus, the
problem this study investigates is the influenced of social media networks on youths’ behaviors,
and psychosocial development.
Purpose of the study
The purpose of this study is generally to examine influence of Social Media of the
