g(x)=-x^2 - 2x +1

find the first derivative of the function

g'(x)=-2x-2

-2x=-2

divide by -2 on both sides to get the value of x

x=1

find the second derivative of the function

g''(x)=-2

kindly update section c on the maximum or minimum value.To get the maximum or minimum value of the function,you substitute the value of x in the original function ie

-2^2 -2*2 + 1=4-4+1

=1

therefore the maximum value =1
