Turing test and Chinese Room Argument
The Turing test is a technique that was developed by Alan Turing in 1950. It was a
strategy which was used in assessing the ability of a machine in exhibiting intelligent behavior in
comparison to that of humans. The Turing test suggested that evaluators of human behaviors
judge natural language conversations between humans and machines that are designed to
generate responses which relate to humans, Shan et al. (2013). The evaluator acknowledges that
in a conversation, there is the machine and other participants who are separated from each other.
Sometimes, the conversation is limited to text only channels, for instance, a computer or a screen
to allow the results not to be based on the ability of the machine in rendering words such as a
speech. Failure of an evaluator reliably telling the machine from the human results to the
