Over the years, art has been used as a strong tool for passing messages in society. One
form of art which has been commonly exploited as a means of communication is a parody. In art,
art is used in a comical manner, but the intention is to pass a strong message over issues
generally affecting the society. Other than in a satirical manner, art has been used to highlight
social issues in society in a significant way. In describing art, Fibuch and Jennifer (65) note that
art offers nonverbal, symbolic means of communication that has been widely exploited to pass
information in the society and from one generation to another. In the '60s and '70s, art was used
to highlight major social issues occurring in the society especially those touching on the plight of
women and minorities in the society. In this paper, we shall analyze two artistic images and
review how each of the two connects with the different movements of the 1960s and 1970s.
