According to Cuéllar-Franca & Azapagic (2015), CO2 disposal method has not lived up to the expectations of reducing carbon emissions. The carbon dioxide capture costs such as utilities and amortized capital values are also factors that make the technique expensive to apply. The purpose of this report was to offer an alternative to carbon capture method other than Carbon disposal method that is being used by Carbon Engineering Ltd. In order to lower the CO2 capture costs, the electro-reduction of carbon dioxide (ERC) method was recommended as it proved to be the best alternative and a more cost-effective way of CO2 capture compared to the CO2 disposal method used by the company. The objective of ERC is taking CO2 from industries and then converting it to formic acid and formate salts (Dominguez-Ramos et al., 2015). The two byproducts get reused for industrial applications. The use of formic acid also offers a crucial role for doing fuel cell development, whereby it is used as direct fuel and as a fuel storage material for hydrogen when it is released on-demand. With the capability of providing net revenue per CO2 replaced, the use of ERC method compared to carbon capture method offers a positive return on investment. The use of biodegradable fuel from the industrial carbon dioxide also provides a solution for carbon dioxide emissions done by vehicles that use inorganic fuel. The by-products are used as fuel for vehicles. It offers a solution for both industrial and motor vehicle industry. When in use, the biodegradable fuels such as increases the efficiency of the machines that use the fuel and engines of cars. The fuel combustion allows the release of energy in significant amounts while the fuel used is less. This report provides an analysis and evaluation of Carbon (IV) Dioxide (CO2) capture
costs, and the need for most industrial companies to minimize them. The main focus is narrowed
down to the alternative method besides the use of CO2 disposal method that can be used to
minimize the CO2 capture costs. The report is drawn to the attention of the global call for the
need to control carbon emissions as a way of combating the menace of global warming and the
general aspect of climate change. In particular, the Carbon Engineering Ltd has been using the
CO2 disposal as a way of reducing carbon emission, a method that has not fully lived to its
expectations. Hence, an analysis of the costs of the CO2 disposal method was conducted, and the
findings were that the company still incurred lots of CO2 capture costs with little results in terms
of the reduced carbon emissions. From a comparison between the CO2 disposal method and the
alternative method of minimizing CO2 capture costs, which is electro-reduction of carbon
dioxide (ERC) method, the key findings in terms of cost were that the former was more capital
intensive compared to the latter. The CO2 disposal method required a capital of €/kW-net 3812
compared to 3134 for ERC. Also, various utilities and amortization value costs were analyzed,
with the ERC method proving to be the best cost effective alternative in minimizing CO2 capture
