Hi there! Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
A nonprofit organization, just like any other organization, must always maintain a proper code of ethics in order to function. The fact that it is not-for-profit does not take away its responsibility to act in an ethical manner, conduct fair business, and treat employees fairly. It is important to note that money should never be a motivator to act ethically; ethic behavior should come before any thoughts of revenues or bottom line. It should be instated from the Board of the company, through the hiring culture, and selection of customers. A nonprofit organization must choose a board of honorable, respectable, ethical members. It should look to hire only people who agree with the ethics code, and it should only perform business with reputable, ethical companies. By working with ethical people all around, you create a positive culture where morals come first, and revenues and profits, later.
Please let me know if you need any clarification. Always glad to help!
