Some of the ways in which working practices may change as a result of introducing new technology include:

  1. Job content: who does what, when, how, and how much as computers make things more formal rather than less formal.
  2. Personnel policies: probably as a result of changes to job content (confidentiality of information for example)
  3. Job satisfaction: motivation control, financial and other rewards, learning new skills
  4. Power and influence: This may shift between individuals or groups.
  5. Working environment: changes in space and equipment allocation
  • What reactions and attitudes can be observed when social aspects change at the workplace as a result of work practices and new computer technology? What does the information worker have to consider in terms of accepting new technology and how is his/her success measured?

how work practices occur in an organization. New technologies influence today’s workforce in
the way people work and work efficiency has been greatly increased (Harteis, 2017). However, it
is significant for workplace personnel to understand the complexities, advantage and
disadvantages of technology at workplace which plays an integral role in affecting the
company’s activities. Moreover, introduction of computers have an influence of making things
formal as activities have been automated and daily tasks in the organization is accelerated (Harte,
2017). For example, creation of reports by managers has been automated by use of office
software’s that are user friendly in integrating text, images and tables included in the report.
