A car travels 100 miles east and 300 miles south at 60 mph.  A small drone needs to get to the same place in the same amount of time traveling in a straight line. How fast does the drone need to travel?

Hi there! Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

The car travels a total of 400 miles, at 60mph, this is a total of 400/60 = 20/3 = 6.3333 hours

The drone would have to travel the hypotenuse distance = square root(100^2 + 300^2) = 100 *square root(10) miles

The drone speed is distance over time 100squareroot(10)/(20/3) = 15square root(10) or approximately 47.4 miles per hour

Please let me know if you need any clarification. Always glad to help!
