Environmental issues compromise the ability of the natural environment to be
sustainable, therefore, adversely affecting environmental health and reducing biological
diversity. A wide spectrum of human socio-economic and technological activities influence
environmental degradation which is a major threat that our planet is facing. Notably, dominant
environmental issues are depicted in the exponential growth of global climate change, loss of
biological diversity, global warming, pollution, deforestation resource use and waste substances,
poverty, population growth, and pollution. As a result, there is an increasing concern on the
environmental issues affecting business and societies at large. With a setting like this, customers
are becoming aware that their purchasing behavior impacts the environment. Business
organizations, on the other hand, try to offer environmentally friendly services to gain a
competitive edge. To accomplish this, organizations are integrating green business processes as
well as embracing sustainability. Further, business ethics and corporate social responsibility
(CSR) reinforce the significance of green product development. Today, the key prevailing
environmental issues affecting business and society include hazardous waste disposal,
