GROUP COUNSELING FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE DIVORCED AND TRYING TO
MANAGE STRESS.
INTRODUCTION
What is group counseling? It is a form of counseling where one or more therapist treat of
clients, the counseling is done through group process. Groups are complex and require a
counselor to combine individual counseling and group management skill. Groups are a source
of meaning and belonging meeting needs for personal contact and interaction.
In this case i am dicing with a group of divorced men and women. The group comprises
of:
• Client A- female who has been divorced for the last 8 years.
• Client B- A male client who has been married for 2 years and is contemplating
divorce.
• Client C- A female client who has been divorced for 5 years.
This is a group characterized by people facing family – relationship transition. The above
clients are experiencing changes in their lives. The group counseling will benefit them to get a
better understanding of what they are going through, also come to realization that “I am not the
only one that got it and I don’t have to handle it alone.” Some of the outstanding characteristics
of this group:
• Cultural diversity.
• Age diversity.
• Gender diversity.
They are all going through the same thing but they have different cultural and ethnic
values. Their gender varies we have two female and one male. Age difference is evident one
