What are the six regions of the Sun?
There are six layers that form the sun. These layers include the corona, chromosphere,
photosphere, convention zone, radiative zone and the core.
Corona. This layer forms the outer atmosphere of the sun.
Chromosphere. This is a reedy layer just beneath the corona. It is approximately 30,000
kilometers thick.
Photosphere. This is the part of the sun that can be seen from the surface of the earth. In other
words, it is the sun’s visible part.
Convention zone. This is the region in which there is circulation of gases. This part of the sun is
approximately 200,000 kilometers thick.
Radiative zone. This is the densest part of the sun. It stretches to about 300,000 kilometers of
thickness.
Core. This forms the central part of the sun. It is at the core that the energy of the sun is
produced.
