Signif icance/inf luence: Magna Carta is a crucial document is a history as it guaranteed citizens to particular
rights and bound the king to established laws. At this time, England was run on a f eudal sy stem of land
ownership. The f eudal lords and noblemen were f urious when King John lost the territory. The King had also
increased taxes that oppressed the majority of his people and arrested others without trials. Magna Carta also
inf luenced early American colonists as it led to the f ormation of the constitution. This constitution later became
the supreme law of the land in the new United States republic.
Mayf lower Compact
Document summary: Mayf lower Compact was a document f ormed by Mayf lower members with the aim of
establishing temporary self -government in America's Plymouth colonies. On September 1620, Mayf lower ship
with 102 passengers, and who ref erred to themselves as pilgrims sailed f rom Plymouth, England.
Signif icance/inf luence: this was an important document in the history of America. This is because it marked
the establishment of the f irst agreement f or self -government in America. Mayf lower Compact became crucial
as it became an example of self -government to revolutionaries and later settlers in early America of ten
ref erred to as "seeds" of American government that were f ormed later under a constitution.

Declaration of Independence
Document summary: Declaration of Independence was a document that provided a statement to announce
that the thirteen original colonies had become independent states and were no longer under British rule. The
document declared the colonies had to become independent and established reasons as to why Americans
needed to believe in their rights.
Signif icance/ inf luence: the Declaration of Independence document was very important as it is what led to the
independence of Americans f rom King George III. This declaration justif ied the rights to revolt against a
government that did not guarantee the natural rights of the citizens. It also provided ideas that colonialists
believed in their importance f or the citizens to have liberty and equality.
Articles of Conf ederation
Document summary: Articles of Conf ederation served as a crucial document in the United States as it was the
f irst United States written constitution. The progress of this document was slowed the urgent needs and the
extended land claims but the government bef ore rectif ications were made.
Signif icance/inf luence: Articles of Conf ederation served the need of having f reedom securing plan that would
guarantee the independence of the united states. This constitution marked the establishment of a phase
where human rights would be heard, which was a mark of independence f rom Great Britain. Despite become
such crucial f or attaining nationality, this document later was f ound inef f ective as it lacked crucial provisions to
guarantee government ef f ectiveness.
