Find an equation of the line that passes through the point (7, 6) and has the slope m = -5 / 2

Oct 12th, 2015

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

General equation of line in slope intercept form is y = mx + c

where m is the slope and c is the y intercept

here m = -5/2

so, y = (5/2)x+c

put (7,6) in the equation

6 = (-5*7/2) + c

c = 6 + 35/2 = 47/2

so, equation of line is :   y = (-5/2)x+ 47/2

 or, 5x+2y = 47
