When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was enacted in 2010, Americans were happy as it
made healthcare affordable for all people through minimizing costs for those who were unable to
afford it. However, there were concerns on how the ACA would impact on the employers.
Generally, employers have a sturdy economic motivation for offering health insurance due to the
fact that employer-financed insurance is not subjected to any taxes. After its enactment, many
people were not aware that the law would increase business costs. Currently, people are aware
that healthcare costs have gone up. The increased costs as a result of the Affordable Healthcare
Act that have bombarded employers include the Reinsurance Fee. This research paper
summarizes the evidence with regards to the influence of ACA on the employers, the latest
demographics in the employer health insurance and the opportunities for more research.
The Affordable Care Act has various directives well defined in the law. In his study on
