One force is a 2100N forward push by the motor and the other is an 1800N resistive force due to the water.

a. What is the acceleration of the 1200kg boat?

b. If it starts from rest, how far will it move in 10 seconds?

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

net force = 2100N-1800N=300N

a. acceleration = F/m = 300N/1200kg = 0.25 m/s^2

b. speed = a*t=0.25m/s^2 * 10s = 2.5 m/s

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
