Aging is a natural process in human life. This process is marked by significant
physical, physiological, and psychosocial changes. The physical changes include a
decrease in height due to the settling of spinal disks and hardening of the collagen
fibres (Cooper & Gosnell, 2018). There is also a decrease in muscle strength, bone
mass, and the body’s basal metabolic rate. The body becomes susceptible to diseases
as a result of a decline in the body's defence mechanism. Aging affects each
differently. This difference is dependent on a variety of factors such as diet, heredity,
and mental outlook (Cooper & Gosnell, 2018). The individual will have to cope with
visible changes such as the loss of skin elasticity. Such changes can affect one’s selfesteem. Physiological changes associated with aging include changes in blood
pressure, slower respiratory rates, and the risk of conditions such as osteoporosis and
