First find a common denominator.

3*5 = 15 The denominator is now going to be 15. All fractions with denominator 3 will be multiplied by 5 and the fractions with denominator 5 will be multiplied by 3.

(2*3)/15=(1*3)x/15-(2*5)/15

6/15=3x/15-2/15

1. add 2/15 to both sides (additive property)

6/15+2/15=3x/15-2/15+2/15

8/15=3x/15

2. Multiply both sides by 15 (multiplicative property)

8/15*15=3x/15*15

8=3x

3. Divide both sides by 3 (divisive property)

8/3=3x/3

8/3=x
