Ethnocentrism is the tendency to see others and their behaviors through our own cultural filters. In most cases, the resulting attitude is "our way is good; your way is ignorant or bad."

Tell about a time when you yourself or someone you witnessed expressed an attitude of ethnocentrism. How would you handle such expressions differently after your study here?

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Me being from a Indian/Pakistan family believe that the way we do weddings is the best and none can compete with the fun we have at weddings. However I was wrong. I had a very ethnocentric belief. I forgot that everyone enjoys their weddings and celebrate the way their cultures do. Every culture is unique and most individuals are proud of their cultures. So me thinking the way our culture do weddings is the best is very unfair and disgusting; everyone should be ware that every culture is unique, and should be respected for their respective cultures. We have to understand that every culture is unique.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
