The year 2008 saw the Commission on Social Determinants of Health describe gaps in
knowledge and research which translates to a global challenge faced by some countries. These
gaps are 40 times wider in developing countries compared to developed nations where evidencebased knowledge is limited (Niessen 2000). Although more articles about health are published in
these countries less cover the chronic diseases, thus preventing the effective control of the
ailments despite being the cause of more deaths which would otherwise be prevented. To bridge
these gaps, knowledge translation methodologies are required which include generating,
synthesizing, and sharing of scientifically evidenced-based information from the researches.
