Environment development and basic issues

The environment is an essential component of human life. According to research, most of
the developing countries rely on it for sustainability. They engage in agricultural activities which
over the years have helped them in reducing the poverty level. With the recent growth in
technology, different organizations have come up with policies on environment conservation to
protect the environment from degradation. It is important to note that environment conversation
has become a global issue. Without proper strategies, in the near future, almost all the countries
will experience the adverse effects of pollution. Environment pollution does not only destroy
nature. It also affects the economy of a country through effects such as global warming or acidic
rain. The paper focuses on analyzing economics and the environment together with the basic issue
on environment development.
Economics and the environment
Recently economists have shifted their focus on the role of the environment in development
programs. Based on factual data, it can be proved that market failures result in environmental
degradation. For instance, if a company engages in activities that produce a type of gas that affects
the environment the effects can be devastating. It is important to note that the interaction of poverty
and the various activities may destroy the environment in which the community relies on for
survival. The rising pressures in most of the developing controls if not controlled can have an
adverse effect of the countries with respect to income distribution, growth potential among other
aspects (Michael, 2015). Environment degradation has adverse effects on economic development
with respect to the high costs that are associated with health-related expenses. According to
research, population pressure in some of the regions has led to the destruction of the environment.
This is because many people who stay on marginal land rely on farming. Some of them engage in
poor farming methods which pose a threat to the environment. It is important to note that with the
recent trend in environmental destruction, in the near future the remaining forests in some of the
countries like Brazil, Peru, Philippines, Indonesia, and other developing countries will
significantly contribute to the global warming effect. This chapter focuses on analyzing the
economic causes and the issues that are associated with the environmental crisis. In addition, the
possible solutions to the rising levels of poverty and environmental degradation are also discussed.
To begin with, a survey on some of the main issues such as sustainable development, poverty,
rural development, urbanization economic growth and the environment in developing countries
has been conducted (Michael, 2015). Next, the topic also analyses some of the traditional
economic models that focus on providing solutions to the environmental crisis. The scope also
touches on the global environment by investigating some of the strategies that can be used to
improve sustainability across the globe. At the end of the chapter, a comparative analysis of the
Dominican Republic and Haiti has also been discussed. It is important to note that the two nations
mentioned above share an island. The comparison among them tries to portray the role of the
environment in their development policies.
