Literacy
Literacy, which refers to the ability to read and write, cannot be ignored in any way. Just
imagine finding yourself in a room which is filled with people but unfortunately, it occurs that
you are not in the position to communicate, read or write. This causes a feeling of inferiority, as
well as shame. However, it sometimes becomes hard to blame people as some did not have the
fortune of learning. Over the years and since I was very young, I have come to learn that
improving in both reading and writing takes a lot of effort and is a process rather than a one-day
accomplishment. The environment we do find ourselves in has got a great impact on the manner
in which we progress as far as literacy is concerned. In this paper, I will focus on my experiences
or, in other words, the struggles that I had to endure in order to ensure that I learned how to write
and speak, especially in the English language. I will also address the things that propelled me to
take this approach which included, assuring myself that I am capable of realizing my goals as
well as aspiration.
My journey to learning how to write in the English language started when I was about six
