A newspaper advertisement states that all lots in a new housing development will be a minimum of one and a half acres. Assuming the lot is rectangular and has  ft of frontage, how deep will the minimal-size lot be?

1 acre = 43560 sq.ft

One and a half acres : 
43,560 * 1.5 = 65,340 sq ft 

depth of lot :  [ if frontage=160 ft ]
65,340 / frontage = 65,340/160 = 408.375 ft  = 408.4 ft


And If the new home owner wants to fence in the lot, how many yards of fencing would be needed? 

Perimeter=2 times the length plus 2 times the width

160 + 160 + 408.4 + 408.4 = 1136.8 ft. 

1 yard = 3 feet 

1136.8 / 3 = 378.9333 yards = 378.9 yards

depth of lot :  [  frontage=120 ft ]
65,340 / frontage = 65,340/120 = 544.5 ft


And If the new home owner wants to fence in the lot, how many yards of fencing would be needed?

160 + 160 + 544.5 + 544.5 = 1409 ft. 

1 yard = 3 feet 

1409/ 3 = 469.6667 yards = 469.7 yards
