Try to follow the steps keenly in order to understand

(12x^2+20x+8)/(3x+2)

4(3x^2+5x+2)/(3x+2)

simplifying the quadratic expression 3x^2+5x+2

sum=5

product=6

The two factors for the expression are 2 and 3

3x^2+3x+2x+2

3x(x+1)+2(x+1)

(3x+2)(x+1)

Back to the expression

4(3x+2)(x+1)/(3x+2)

(3x+2) cancels both the numerator and denominator. therefore we remain with

4(x+1)

Yes. the quotient is the end result after division. That is what I gave as 4(4x+1) which can be expanded by opening the brackets to give 4x+4.
