Nolan chart is a diagram (or plot) to depict the political view of the people. The horizontal axis represents the economic opinion (or, economic freedom) and vertical axis represents personal opinion (or, personal freedom).
Thus this chart categorize one's political point of view based on 2 factors rather than traditional categorization of left wing and right wing.
So there are overall 4 categories of one's political view point. They are -
1. Top left of the chart represents Left wing political view. These are the people who supports high personal freedom but low economic freedom
2. Top right of the chart represents Libertarianism. These are the people who supports high personal freedom and high economic freedom.
3. Bottom left the chart represents Populism. These people supports low personal as well as low economic freedom. These people can also be considered as fascist or authoritative. (kind of people who supports dictatorship form of government)
4. Bottom right of the chart represents Right wing political view. These people supports high economic freedom but low personal freedom.
