a.     How ways can I pick 4 students from this group?

b.     How many ways can I appoint a czar and assistant czar from this group of students?

c.     How many ways can pick a committee of 3 students consisting of 1 male and 2 female?

d.     How many ways can I choose five students given that at least 3 must be female?

a. How ways can I pick 4 students from this group?

(12*11*10*9) \ 4*3*2 =  495 ways 

b. How many ways can I appoint a czar and assistant czar from this group of students?

for a czar is 1 of 12 and for assistant czar is 1 of 12 as well --> the chance

c. How many ways can pick a committee of 3 students consisting of 1 male and 2 female?

one way

d. How many ways can I choose five students given that at least 3 must be female?

5c3 is 10 ways

5! \ (5-3)!3! = 120\12 = 10 ways

7c1 * 5c2 = 7*20 =140 ways ..
