The cheerleading squad is having a bake sale. They want to bake at least 120 cookies. They made 12 cookies during the first hour and 24 cookies during the second hour

In the first hour they baked; 12 cookies. To meet or surpass the goal we need; x≥(120-12)

In the second hour they baked 24 cookies.

Therefore, total number of cookies baked in the first and second hours is 36.

This means that we need (120 -36) more cookies to meet the goal and a greater number than (120 -36) to surpass the goal.

This is represented as x≥120-36 

x≥84
