Question description

For this assignment, you must write a short essay on a disputed topic which ultimately asks your readers to take action. This topic must be something about which reasonable people could disagree. In some cases, you might advocate doing nothing when other people want to take action, or stopping doing something that causes more harm than benefit.

  • Develop a thesis that makes an appeal and includes supporting ideas that will be used as level I headings. For example, a revised thesis for “The Factories of Lost Children” that could work for this week’s Critical Thinking Assignment could be this:

Sample Thesis: American consumers need to question the sources of their inexpensive clothing and change their shopping practices in an effort to stop factory-related tragedies like those in Manhattan, Thailand, and Bangladesh.

  • Use third person.
  • Follow APA formatting for an essay, incorporating level I headings throughout.
  • Incorporate into your essay 2-3 rhetorical strategies of development
  • Cite at least two credible sources. One must be a scholarly journal article.
  • Your written paper should be 2-3 pages in length
