Hello!

Let's compute speeds in cupcakes/minute: 7/5, 18/20 and 1/[5/6].
(1/3 of an hour is 20 minutes, 50 seconds is 50/60=5/6 of a minute)

The sum of the speeds is

7/5 + 9/10 + 6/5 = 14/10 + 9/10 + 12/10 = 35/10 = 3.5 (cupcakes/min).

So the time for all three together is

500/3.5 = 100/0.7 = 1000/7 = 142 and 6/7 (minutes), or

142 minutes and (360/7) seconds =approx. 142 minutes and 51 seconds.

a) please set up an equation(s) that would model the situation.(be sure to identify variables.)

b) how much fuel was used for highway driving? (round your answer to the nearest tenth of a gallon.)

c) how many miles where driven on the highway?( round your answer to the nearest tenth of a mile.)
