Description
Russell argues that there is no good reason to believe in the existence of God, and the only reason people believe in God is out of fear of the unknown and because they were taught to believe as children. Is this enough to prove that God doesn't exist? What might a religious person respond to Russell? Give your reasons.

FSCJ American History Fine And Popular Art Presentation
You have been asked to give a slide lecture on American history. You may choose only ten images from American fine and popular art to convey the sweep of American history. You could choose to convey the highlights of American history in general, or you could choose one of the themes we have been addressing and show how that theme is developed in American art from the inception of America to the present. You must include works from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, and they should be balanced between prints, paintings, sculpture and architecture (if possible). No more than three images may come from the textbook.Your final project will be a PowerPoint (or other multimedia) presentation, complete with text, pictures, and sounds and/or music. It should follow MLA formatting and include a Works Cited page listing all of your sources, including the textbook. For each of your chosen works, you will put the image on one slide and on the next slide you will provide a 100-150 word analysis that shows how the image conveys an important point or encapsulates a particular moment in American history (slide w/ image + slide w/ analysis x 10 images = 20 slides).

Childrens Ward Consultant Essay
You are a consultant in a children’s ward for a long-term care hospital facility geared towards ages 3 to 10 years old. The facility directors ask you to construct an indoor/outdoor play center and activity schedule to allow those in early and middle childhood to maintain and develop their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth while recovering from their injuries/illnesses.Justify for the facility’s stakeholders the use and placement for each piece of play equipment, toy, and furniture. Make it clear when and why you would need to divide some of the space to separate children in early childhood from those in middle childhood. Be sure to specify:How does each piece of play equipment, toy, and furniture contribute to the four types of development (e.g., fine-motor movement helps physical growth)? How does each piece facilitate social-emotional bonds of children with their families? How does each piece improve coping and adjustment to long-term care?Paper Requirements:Your paper should be seven- to nine-pages (not including the required title or reference pages) and double spaced. The paper should be based on references to scholarly materials (rather than on introductory textbooks, popular website writings, or musings, for example). To that, your paper should synthesize current, relevant research on your topic from at least five scholarly sources. Cite and reference these sources according to APA style.Include an introduction that provides a clear statement of your position on the topic, a body that discusses the implications of possible solutions for the project under consideration, and a conclusion regarding how best to manage the issue (i.e., your informed opinion on the issues raised).Format your entire paper according to APA guidelines. The paper must demonstrate what you have learned about current issues related to human development. Your paper is expected to have depth and offer a thoughtful analysis on the topic. The most common mistakes in writing an essay are (a) simply summarizing the topic and not analyzing it or discussing your views and (b) failing to relate the subject to the broader context of restorative justice, as discussed in class and as found in the readings.Adequately including the broader contexts includes, for example, considering how your research might yield a different approach to restorative justice in the United States.

Criminal Law and Legal Punishment as Consequentialist Deterrence Questions
1. After reading James this week, and Clifford last week, who do you think has the most compelling argument for their position? Why?Legal Punishment1.Give one problem associated with the deterrence argument for the death penalty and one associated with the retributivist argument.2.Give one good point about and one problem associated with either the consequentialist or the retributivist argument for legal punishment (not the death penalty but legal punishment generally).3. Label the following examples of reasons for legal punishment as Consequentialist Deterrence (CD), Consequentialist Prevention (CP), or Retributivist (R):
To the extent that a person could not help what they did in committing a crime, his legal responsibility (and appropriate punishment) is diminished.4.Label the following examples of reasons for legal punishment as Consequentialist Deterrence (CD), Consequentialist Prevention (CP), or Retributivist (R):
While sure and swift punishment may not work for all, it surely works for those who understand the real threat of being punished if they break the law.5.Label the following examples of reasons for legal punishment as Consequentialist Deterrence (CD), Consequentialist Prevention (CP), or Retributivist (R):
