Meg jogs at a rate of 10km/h faster that Kier walks. If Kier walks at 4 km/h and leaves at 9:00 and Meg leaves 1/2 hr later, at what time will they be 5 km apart?

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Hello Hoagie,

here, you note the following

meg jogs at at 10 km.h + 4 km/h. a total of 14hm/h...

here are the calculations

14 - 4 (km.h) because they are moving in the same direction: = 10

then, at 10 km/h difference, the difference of 5 KM, should be in 30 minutes time.

but Meg was late by 30 minutes and kier had moved for 2 km

so, they met at 9: 40

for 5 kilometers difference it would be at

10:10, which is 9:40 Plus 30 mins

Hope this did assist. Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions. I will be pleased if you make me your private tutor.
Thank you
