jose has $2.45 in nickels and dimes. He has 10 more nickels than dimes.  how many of each does he have?

Value of currency: 5n + 10d = 245 cents
Quantity: n = d+10
Modify then, substitute for "n" and solve for "d":
n + 2d = 49
d+10 + 2d = 49
3d = 39
d = 13 (# of dimes)
Solve for "n":
n + 2*13 = 49
n = 23 (# of nickels)
