Mr. Kelly has a 100 foot rope. It is broken into 3 pieces. The 2nd piece is twice as long as the 1st piece. The 3rd piece is 20 feet longer than the 1st piece. Which one is the longest piece of rope?

2nd piece will be 2x

3rd piece will be 20+x

x + 2x + 20 + x=100

4x=80

x=20

both 2nd and 3rd pieces are equal in length with a length 40 feets each
