Question Description

We are going to look at instances of morally impermissible/questionable fraud. So, you have a couple of different opportunities:

1. https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/abc-news/the-dropout

2. https://abc.go.com/shows/2020/episode-guide/2019-03/15-the-dropout

3. https://www.netflix.com/title/81035279

4. https://www.hulu.com/movie/fyre-fraud-e47078f3-1c0e-49a8-9da9-c571a7a20fec

The first two links are for the Theranos scandal, while the latter two are the movies about Fyre Festival. You only need to listen/watch one, and unfortunately your choices might be determined by what sites you can gain access to (sorry). But, the two Theranos resources do not require a subscription to anything, so if you don't have Netflix or Hulu, or can't gain access through a friend, choose one of those.

You need to write a single page on one of these cases of Fraud, and answer three simple questions:

1. Explain, in terms of the moral dimensions or concepts of the case, what might be wrong with the conduct of people in one of these two cases.

2. When thinking about things from a moral perspective, what principles or concepts might be best for analyzing why this type of conduct is not permissible.

3. Do you think what happened was wrong? And, do you think that the main persons involved are morally responsible for what happened? Why or why not?

FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened
With the exclusion of the thousands of individuals who got duped into devoting entire college
tuition on Fyre Festival, everyone has been cooperatively criticizing the party since 2017. The
whole story is messed equally up and wildly entertaining. First, the release of the documentary a
shock, Fyre was enclosed by vagueness before it was even released.
Billy McFarland errors insubordinations.
He is the CEO and founder of Fyre Media, charismatic and sells the idea of a luxury lifestyle to
anyone interested. He does not state his plans clearly and runs away after creating problems.
The festival itself turned into a free-for-all
The tents weren't allocated to attendees; therefore everybody just took them all at once and
turned into real barbarians when they recognized what they were in for. A system for claiming
baggage was not set off of the 18-wheeler it indicated up on. The island turned into the
commencement of Birdbox where everyone is seen running into space without any real direction,
