Introduction
According to the Islamic faith, religion affects every aspect of a person’s life. It is not
only necessary at certain times and not others. Faith is not only meant to be seen as necessary
when one celebrates certain aspects of life or on specific days of the week. The Islamic faith is
seen as a way of life which should dictate all aspects of a Muslim’s life whether at the market
place, at home or at the mosque. It is a faith which should dictate the way a person lives his or

also as a political leader or statesman who had a key role in shaping the communities or the
Muslim ummah. The leaders who ruled after Muhammad followed the same trend by being both
religious and political leaders in the communities where they ruled.
Muhammad had several successes during his time. He created laws that form the basis of
Islamic values to date. The laws that were pertaining to inheritance, divorce, and marriages were
all aimed at reforming the customs at the time. He is it the prophet who introduced the law that
