Need help on solving this Algebra problem

Bob ate 10 carrots and 7 Hershey's kisses and the total calories were 263. Fred ate 4 carrots and 8 Hershey's kisses and the total calories were 230. How many calories are in a carrot and a Hershey's kiss? (The answer is not a scientific truth, only made up numbers!!!)

The calories in a Hershey's kiss = 24


Let the number of carrots = c and the number of Hershey's kisses be h

The equations obtained from the question are:

10c + 7h = 263 --->(1)

4c + 8h = 230 ----->(2)

Dividing (2) by 2:

2c + 4h = 115

Multiplying this by 5:

10c + 20 h = 575 ----(3)

Subtract (3) from (2):

10c + 20h = 575

-10c - 7h = -263

Answer:

13h = 312

Therefore, h = 312/13 = 24

Substitute value of h in (2):

4c + 8*24 = 230

4c = 38

c = 38/4 = 9.5
